The Clare People, Launched as Ireland’s first all-colour regional newspaper in June 2005, The Clare People has brought a new dimension to the Clare media market; giving people a choice and offering something new to a readership that wasn’t catered for by the old-style provincial press.
This required a radical revision of the traditional routine of regional newspaper production. A team of the region’s best journalists, designers and sales people were backed by a start-up investment of over 4 million and given a clear challenge to produce a quality tabloid newspaper that would set new standards in editorial and operational excellence. This was recognized when The Clare People named Mid-West newspaper of the Year in 2007 and its website www.clarepeople.com achieved national recognition in the Golden Spider, Digital Media and Irish Website awards in 2006, 2007 and 2008. The newspaper was also honoured with Justice in the Media, Irish Medical Media, Irish Press Photography and UK newspaper editor awards.
